"From the ridge of the pass, we saw a powerful white chain of snow giants. This was Nepal and the long-awaited Himalayas on the other side of Brahmaputra." N. Roerich. Altai – Himalayas

"From the top, we observed a grandiose picture of the Himalayas, probably the most majestic landscape in the world. Sparkling under the morning sun, covered with snow, the toothed walls of the Himalayas rose high above the neighboring mountain peaks. We all froze in amazement in front of this panorama of a cosmic splendor. Not a single cloud obscured the high peaks, and all these snow giants were clearly and distinctly seen in the rarefied atmosphere of Tibet. Behind the peaks and snowy spaces, there are the hot plains of India with all their wonders of nature."

Yu. Roerich. Following the Paths of the Middle Asia.
