It’s amazing! In Lamayura, in this stronghold of not only the red sect, but also bon-po, among other images, there is a large image of Maitreya. It was installed about 200 years ago. This knowledge has penetrated even here. Only Maitreya firmly links the Mahayana with the Hinayana, including Ceylon. This worship brought together the yellow and red sects.
