“Kailash, Manasarovar, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Triloknath, Rawalsar – these magnificent pearls of the Highest always fill the heart with the greatest awe. When Manasarovar was one day’s journey from us, the entire caravan perked up – so far one feels the aura of the existing sacred ashram. The way to Triloknath gives rise to another vivid memory. Caravanes of sadhus and lamas moves on a pilgrimage to Triloknath, an ancient shrine. They go together from different directions. Someone carries a trident, someone, a bamboo cane, and and someone else has nothing, and not clothes, making a pilgrimage. They do not care about the snow at the Rothang Pass.

Pilgrims walk; they know that Rishas and Pandavas lived here. Here is Beas or Vyas, here is Vyasakund – a place where desires are fulfilled. Here Rishi Vyasa collected the Mahabharata. Rishas lived not in a legend, but in the realty. Their presence animates the rocks crowned with glaciers, and emerald pastures of yaks, and caves, and violent streams. From here the spiritual messages were sent, which people remember through all ages. They are taught in schools, translated in different languages, but their accumulated crystal has lain on the rocks of the Himalayas.”
