The Descent of Jesus Christ to Hell is a dogma according to which, after the crucifixion, Jesus Christ descended to hell, liberated the souls imprisoned therein and brought from the hell all the Old Testament righteous, as well as Adam and Eve. Like in the painting “Buddha the Investigator”, the artist placed the preacher in the underwater world. But unlike the previous picture, its dirty red color tells us about a world of lower passions, inhabited by ugly figures, symbols of human vices.
